NITOT, THE ORIGINS OF THE GREAT PARISIAN JEWELLERY

Founded in Paris at the end of the 18th century by Marie-Étienne Nitot, The Maison Nitot belongs to this generation of jewelers who have accompanied the transformation of Paris into the European capital of creation. Installed on Rue Saint-Honoré, Nitot became the jeweler of Napoleon Bonaparte and of Joséphine, who created decorative arts, court jewelry and precious objects that contribute to the staging of imperial power. His son François-Regnault succeeds him and continues the business, before the House takes the name Chaumet. Through his creations, he thus attests to a time when French jewelry was being created amidst courtly art, the craftsmanship of the goldsmith, and the affirmation of a new Parisian taste.
