It must be said that this is a Very beautiful exhibition which brings together a selection of emblematic brooches from two private collections, as well as those from the House’s heritage funds

A delicate and lively creature, the bird connects the sky and the earth.
It should be noted that the 18th century already showed a desire to bring nature into the homes. Therefore, it was the Bird bushes which exhibit this nature. That is, a tree that hosts naturalized birds.
As the famous engravings of naturalist Buffon attract the eye to beautiful exotic birds.
So, this naturalistic perspective inspired all the artisans of the time. Similarly, travel inspires a melodious and abundant nature that speaks to the human mind.
Later in the 19th century, the proliferation of birds in jewelry was a reflection of the taste for this decorative naturalism that was sweeping the interiors.

Through a selection of emblematic brooches made between 1860 and 1960, the’School of Jewelry Arts, It will highlight the artist’s work in the service of the representation of the body, the plumage or the movement of the bird, between realism and symbolism.

Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Decorative Arts and the National Ceramics Museum of Sévres.
