L‘School of Jewelry Arts proposes a new exhibition A Nouveau Art: Transformations of the Jewelry of 1880-1914 starting June 2, 2023.
In this regard, the School’s exhibitions have become indispensable. It must be admitted that each of the exhibits we present takes us into a different universe while allowing us to discover a little more about the world of jewelry. This time it’s the unique place occupied by jewelry at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
It should be noted that starting in the 1880s, aesthetics underwent a profound evolution, a new and innovative breath. Therefore, this period inspired the creators who proposed new forms and a new vision of nature. It was another vision of the world, which departed from tradition to move towards new forms of expression. As a catalyst, the Industrial Revolution and its mechanization brought about this change. It was thanks to brilliant minds like René Lalique or Émile Gallé that this art developed with boldness and with remarkable technical mastery. Thanks to these creators of genius and their artisanal work, they produced the most beautiful achievements of their time.
This new generation of designers draws inspiration from nature and graceful female figures. Jewelry has a bold aesthetic, using fine stones such as opals, moonstones, topaz, agate. Or even horn, ivory and of course enamel.

Thus, in this spirit of discovery, the exhibition will be organized into three parts. First, “Féériques Naturelles”; then “Eclosions”; finally “Abstractions”. This is an unprecedented approach to Art Nouveau to be discovered, a unique event as offered by The School of Jewelry Arts.
