Sea of Wonder, Chapter 2025 of the Blue Book opens like a diving logbook, where each jewel is a creature born of salt, light, and memory. Nathalie Verdeille, at the helm of the jewelry creation department, continues the exploration of aquatic dreams begun last year: a silent dialogue between the sea and the hand of the artisan.
Six universes, six underwater currents make up this odyssey: Anchor, Anemone, Shell, Urchin, Mermaid and Ocean Flora.
The anchor, a symbol of stability, takes on a brooch from 1939 that cushion-cut diamonds, heavier than dew drops, transform into an amulet. The anemone, quivering, displays a necklace whose rubies seem to breathe, red as the heart of a reef. The shells, made of gold and platinum, wind around a green tourmaline, a world stone where one would think one could see a moving algae reflected.
Further on, Urchin It revived the chipped enamel, a vestige of the 19th century, as if history itself were dissolving into a bubble of gold.
Then comes Mermaid, A fabulous figure, a guardian of a black opal whose depths glow with light.
Finally Ocean Flora, The secret watch with a mother-of-pearl dial gives the time in the kingdom of silence.
Each creation seems suspended between two breaths: that of Jean Schlumberger, whose archives still inspire the imagination, and that of the present, more fluid and introspective.
