With Table-Signature, She invites Katherina Marx to present an exclusive collection of stoneware and porcelain pieces, in a dialogue between contemporary creation and antique objects from the 19th century.

Sometimes a plate is all it takes to change the way you look at a table. A shape, a material, or an unexpected detail can transform a daily gesture into an aesthetic experience. That’s exactly what Table-Signature, New proposal by Galerie Vauclair, which continues its exploration of the arts of the table by bringing together heritage and contemporary creation.
For this edition, the gallery has given Katherina Marx carte blanche; the creator, decorator and committed figure of the French cultural scene. Between Paris and Italy, she has been developing a personal work around ceramics for several years. Clay and porcelain become both expressive mediums and objects designed to accompany everyday life.
Katherina Marx, matter as language
At Katherina Marx, the earth is never reduced to its function. It is shaped, carved, deformed, and becomes a sensitive material. The plates and objects imagined for Table-Signature They thus fall at the border between the utilitarian and the sculptural.
This ambiguity is one of the attractions of the collection. A piece can be viewed for its formal presence before being used for its intended purpose. The table then becomes a living space, where the objects are no longer simply arranged but participate in a composition.
«If I were to define the passion I feel when handling the earth, I would say that it is an intuition that has gradually taken hold of me over the years,» confesses Katherina Marx. Manual labor plays an essential role in her practice. Shaping the earth offers her a suspended time. An almost meditative concentration that allows emotions to find another form of expression.
Her universe has been built through a journey that combines interior design, vintage Italian furniture, contemporary design, and antique objects. Since 2012, she has been developing interior design projects while pursuing a constant research into ceramics. Luminaires, table art pieces, and decorative objects thus form interiors where the eras overlap without ever seeking to blend in with one another.
A table between heritage and contemporary creation
This way of bringing the temporalities into dialogue naturally aligns with the approach of the Galerie Vauclair. The house advocates a free approach to decoration. Antique objects can be combined with contemporary creations to create a personal decor.
The stoneware and porcelain pieces by Katherina Marx are placed alongside works and objects from the 19th century. The contrast between the materials, the lines, and the uses allows for imagining a table that is less codified. The exhibition is part of the Table Season, The first three works, presented between 2024 and 2025, had resulted in collaborations with François Motte, Inès Mercadale and Oscar Ono. With “Table-Signature”, Galerie Vauclair continues this reflection on the art of the table as a field of experimentation.
The art of living as a space for creation
The work of Katherina Marx goes beyond the realm of ceramics alone. She is deeply committed to the transmission of savoir-faire and the French cultural life. For more than ten years, she has presented Version Française on TV5Monde, a program dedicated to those who shape French creation and its crafts.
This attention paid to gestures and skills is found in Table-Signature A particularly natural translation. The porcelain and stoneware here tell as much about the material as the hand that transforms it. Each object retains something of the movement that gave rise to it.
