Record bid for a Ruby!
The “Graff Ruby” was the star of Sotheby’s Geneva’s Haute Joaillerie sale yesterday.
This spectacular 8.62 carat diamond was purchased by Laurence Graff at a record price of ….. 6.8 million €!

Its “pigeon blood” red color is characteristic of the magnificent rubies of Mogok in Burma, which are considered the rarest precious stones in the world.
David Bennett, President of Sotheby’s Switzerland and of the Haute Joaillerie Department in Europe and the Middle East, said: »The «Graff Ruby» has captivated everyone who has laid eyes on it. This stone is a gem among gems, and quite simply the most exceptional ruby of this size I have ever seen. The record price achieved tonight also pays tribute to the discernment and eye of Dimitri Mavrommatis as well as to his passion for beauty in all its forms.».
This ruby, which was presented at Sotheby’s Paris on October 23, is truly an exceptional jewel.
