Regarding the National Museum of Natural History:

The adventure began in 1635 within the Royal Garden of Medicinal Plants, the former name of the Museum. From that time onwards, enthusiasts analyzed, compared, and reported on their travels of essences that enriched a nascent heritage. Some would leave their names behind for posterity, such as the naturalists Buffon, Cuvier, and Lamarck. Over time, new disciplines developed, notably chemistry starting in the 18th century.e A century in which the establishment was the cradle in France, but also in prehistory, archaeology, geology, anthropology, and paleontology, allowing the accumulation of new specimens and unprecedented knowledge. This curiosity has never waned.
