MARINE DEVOS DIRECTOR OF BIJORHCA

Esprit Joaillerie met Marine Devos, the new director of the Bijorhca fair.
She managed the international jewelry divisions of the Reed Exhibitions group, including IJL (London) and JCK (Las Vegas), and now takes on responsibility for the famous Parisian salon Bijorhca Paris.

What direction do you want to take at the Bijorhca Paris salon?

The direction we want to give Bijorhca Paris is the one we have already initiated two editions ago. We continue our work of strengthening the valuable segment to highlight jewelry made with gold, silver, and precious stones.

Simultaneously, we are working to consolidate and bring together the stakeholders in the sector. Whether they are those in the fantasy jewelry sector, those in precious jewelry, or those offering services.

Union makes the difference and in the current economic and social context that you know, it seems to us a priority to work together to bring the industry together.

Do you want to see more jewelry?

We truly want to give jewelry the place it deserves in an international trade show held in Paris. This takes time, of course, but we are putting all our energy into making it happen.

What actions have you taken since your appointment?

I took up my duties very recently, on December 7th, and have begun a process of dialogue with retailers and institutional investors, brands, etc., to better understand their expectations and refine the actions to be implemented for September next year.
I continue in this direction.

I have also taken on my role, which is to manage the development of Bijorhca Paris, to animate the team and to represent the salon in France and internationally. It is a real role
the conductor!

 Who will be your next guest of honor?

We have several ideas, which remain confidential for now… Come and find out in September!

 Which jewellers will be present?

Some brands that were present at previous sessions will return in September next year, and we are prospecting for new brands that we will be pleased to introduce to you very soon.

We also count on the return of international brands and creators, including the Brazilians and the pavilion of Mauritius.

 What does the jewel represent to you?

A strong symbolism.
I think that behind every piece of jewelry there is a story, an event. I am thinking in particular of the one that 30 of my friends gave me on my 30th birthday.

What is your favorite jewel? A precious stone that makes you dream?

This is a jewel from Place Vendôme that is a pearl from Tahiti, whose snake-shaped bezel is set with diamonds.

Is it possible to imagine a Bijorhca salon that is international?

The Reed Exhibitions group, of which Bijorhca is a member, already has in its portfolio exhibitions in the jewelry sector. We organize the JCK exhibition in Las Vegas, International Jewellery London, International Jewellery Tokyo, and also the Jewellery & Watch Show in Abu Dhabi.

We therefore do not currently have any plans to deploy the Bijorhca brand abroad, but we have, of course, begun discussions to consider synergies with the other Group’s salons.

We are eagerly awaiting the September 2019 show; can you already tell us about it?

We’ll have to wait a little longer… but what I can tell you is that we’re doing everything we can to make the next salon a very special event!
