Impermanence by Boucheron, A collection of high-end jewelry inspired by Wabi-Sabi

The house Boucheron continues his reflection on nature with his new haute joaillerie collection Carte Blanche 2025, titled Impermanence. Continuing the «Untamed Nature» collection presented in January, Claire Choisne presents here a more introspective proposal, inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of imperfection and transience.
This series of twenty-eight pieces is structured around six numbered botanical compositions, exploring the gradual disappearance of light. A trajectory conceived as a natural cycle, from the original brilliance to the final darkness. Each of these compositions combines traditional materials (gold, diamonds) and technical innovations (borosilicate glass, 3D printing, DLC titanium, ceramic coatings), in a desire to fuse jewelry and experimental design.
In Composition No. 6, the studio Boucheron Sculpt the borosilicate glass to a thickness of 2 mm to depict a tulip and an eucalyptus branch. The movable stamens and pistil are set with diamonds, while a miniature dragonfly unfurls wings made of sapphire glass and mother-of-pearl, laser-engraved.
Composition No. 5 introduces a notable technological advancement: the sewn-in stitching. Due to the lack of metallic support in the bio-sourced 3D resin of the chardons, the diamonds are fixed using hand-sewn threads in the plant’s cavities. This method allows for the integration of more than 800 stones into a non-traditional structure.
Composition #4 uses titanium and black ceramic to depict oat stalks and cyclamen petals. The snow-covered arrangement of rose-cut diamonds on white gold creates a luminous stained-glass effect. The combination of materials and finishes creates a stark contrast between mattness and brilliance, between opacity and transparency.
In Composition No. 2, a phantom magnolia emerges from a black matte composite vase. Aluminum, chosen for its lightness, supports a horizontal structure that is difficult to balance. The artisans have incorporated embedded diamond settings that descend and invert towards the heart of the flowers and buds. The phasme, entirely sculpted in rhodium-plated white gold, imposes an extreme level of execution, particularly in the creation of its diamond-studded legs.
Impermanence It illustrates a dual ambition: pushing the technical limits of high jewelry while conveying a coherent and contemporary artistic vision. Through this collection, Boucheron Reaffirms its role as a creative laboratory in the world of contemporary jewelry
