The gallery, The Illuminations, announces the exhibition and sale of the extraordinary diamond collection of Benjamin Zucker, one of the most important diamond and gemstone dealers in New York.
It should be emphasized that Benjamin Zucker has assembled a collection that took a lifetime of patience, money, and passion.
Since this extremely rare and valuable collection includes approximately thirty-five jewels that were manufactured primarily for European clients.
Also, these rings, brooches, hairpins, and earrings tell the story of the Indian diamond over a period of nearly 600 years. This period ends before the discovery of mines in Brazil. In this way, this other source changed India and ushered in a new era of diamonds.

The success of brilliant cut (close to our current sizes) eclipses the earlier shapes. Many of them have been reshaped to be «modernized». As a result, the earlier cuts of «old mine» diamonds, included here, are extremely rare.
Most of these jewels are on display in prestigious museums such as the Walters Art Museum, the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History, the Houston Museum of Art, and more recently, the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In fact, they have never been offered for sale.
For all these reasons, a sumptuous publication by leading specialists accompanies the exhibition. It has also been written by Diana Scarisbrick, a renowned jewelry historian and author of Diamond Jewelry: Seven Centuries of Glory and Glamour (September 2019).
