Chromatic Symphony by Bulgari, Tokyo presents Bvlgari Kaleidos

Until December 15, 2025, the National Art Center Tokyo opens its doors to the exhibition Bvlgari Kaleidos: Colors, Cultures and Crafts. The Roman House is presenting a large-scale retrospective in Japan, supported by the Embassy of Italy, featuring nearly 350 pieces from jewelry and contemporary art.
The title, borrowed from the Greek kalos (beautiful) and eidos (form), reflects the aesthetic perspective, exploring color in all its dimensions, scientific, symbolic, and emotional. The journey is structured into three chapters. First, The Science of Colors analyzes the chromatic effects through emblematic jewelry, including a bracelet in citrine and diamonds from the 1940s. Then, Color Symbolism highlights the cultural value of the colors, notably with the «Seven Wonders» necklace (1961), a masterpiece of heritage Bulgari. Finally, The Power of Light shows how precious metals and stones transform the visual perception, with a spectacular transformable watch from 1969 as the highlight.
The exhibition is not limited to jewelry. Three contemporary artists, Lara Favaretto, Mariko Mori and Akiko Nakayama, bring their unique perspective on color. Their works, combining immersive installations, spirituality and visual performance, dialogue with the house’s historical archives. This confrontation between traditional jewelrymaking and contemporary creation illustrates the ability of Bulgari to transcend his legacy.
Beyond technical virtuosity, the project highlights a long-standing partnership between Italy and Japan, nurtured by a shared appreciation for art, precision, and formal beauty. An exhibition that, far from being aimed solely at jewelry enthusiasts, questions the universal language of color.
