Presented in the Christine & Stephen A. Schwarzman Galleries, this retrospective showcases nearly 1,000 works: jewelry, jewelry pieces, posters, drawings, and paintings. The exhibition begins with an immersion in the atmosphere of the house’s historic workshops. From its Parisian beginnings to its current manufacturing facilities in Normandy. A workshop reconstruction, combining traditional tools and digital devices, sheds light on the innovative technical processes that revolutionized jewelry making, such as the electrolytic silvering introduced as early as 1842.

Since its first participation in the Universal Exhibitions – where it was awarded gold medals – the Maison has constantly reinvented itself. In collaboration with visionary designers such as Gio Ponti, Andrée Putman and Christian Fjerdingstad, the house has managed to combine tradition and avant-garde. Visitors will be able to admire emblematic masterpieces, from Japonisme to Art Deco, to contemporary creations such as the Vertigo service designed by Putman in 2002.

The exhibition also illustrates Christofle’s contribution to the great tables of history. From the on-board services of the Concorde to the sumptuous dining rooms of palaces and legendary ships, each object bears witness to French elegance. A spectacular room is dedicated to these formal settings, where the richness of the decor dialogues with the modernity of contemporary designs.

True to its innovative spirit, Christofle is exploring new territories today. Its recent collaborations with creators such as Marcel Wanders, Jean-Marie Massaud and Aurélie Bidermann confirm its ability to combine functionality and aesthetics. From jewelry to everyday objects transformed into exceptional pieces, it continues to reinvent decorative art.
