So to start, we are going on a world tour, starting with Russia with ALROSA.
First of all, this mining company operates more than 20 diamond mining sites in Russia. It accounts for % 27% of global production in volume and 90% of % Russian production.
It should be noted that it produced 38.5 million carats of rough diamonds in 2019.

More specifically, the company operates in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), in the Arkhangelsk region, and in Africa. Yakutia, where most of the operations are located, is an isolated region in the far east of Russia. With a harsh climate but a magnificent landscape of forests, rivers, mountains, and valleys.
With more than 40% of its territory beyond the Arctic Circle, Yakutia is perhaps the coldest part of Russia. But it holds the most spectacular natural resources, such as diamonds. Natural diamonds are rare and they are even more exceptional when nature gives them color.

This is the case with this 236-carat natural diamond, aged 500 million years, collected from one of the Alrosa mines near the Anabar River in Yakutia. This alluvial diamond deposit reveals very beautiful colored diamonds, some of which have been purchased by the famous jeweler Graff.

Like this 34.17-carat yellow diamond that, after being cut and polished, became the 20.69-carat «Firebird», a marvel.
Recently, the company ALROSA, a member of the Natural Diamond Council, organized a sale in partnership with the Christie’s auction house and the designer Anna Hu last July.

Grown ethically and responsibly in Russia, these diamonds were auctioned to raise funds for the countries of origin. «Diamonds That Care» is a noble cause that includes several programs, including the construction of schools and roads. And more specifically, for this sale, it is a concrete aid to respond to the Covid19 epidemic.
Anna Hu designed a necklace around this stunning 27.02 carat brown-yellow pear-shaped diamond.
