Renaissance of Lalique, Lalique Jewelry
Lalique Joaillerie revisits the founding myths of René Lalique, making the legendary brand create and showcase jewelry in its very first boutique.

It is with emotion that this grand house re-connects with its history. The recently opened 20 rue de la Paix is close to its origins, since the René Lalique boutique was located at 24 place Vendôme in 1905!
This beautiful showcase is a successful blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, inseparable from this legendary name, revisited in a contemporary spirit.
It is Myriam Thomas, Director of the Store, ambassador of the first «Lalique Joaillerie» boutique in the world, who welcomed me very warmly; she pays special attention to the presentation of the Lalique jewelry.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Anne Kazuro, the Director of Lalique Joaillerie.
Anne Kazuro, what a challenge! It’s wonderful to be called «Lalique»; it’s a mythical name! How did you become the director of Lalique Joaillerie?
After studying commerce, a stint in luxury (L’Oréal, Christian Bernard and Boucheron), and a thesis on sustainable development and technological innovation, she managed to integrate these into the field of jewelry! How to do business in luxury with an equitable approach…
Now life has brought me to lead Lalique Bijou and Joaillerie!
What is Lalique Joaillerie’s creative positioning today?
We are a brand that is embedded in its history! The question we ask ourselves is «How would René Lalique make his jewelry today?» No plagiarism!

I am working today with an outstanding team, especially with the designer Quentin Obadia. It is a pleasure to share this new challenge together. When I was at Boucheron, we already collaborated on the creation of collections. What is important is that at Place Vendôme, they often choose a stone and then create a jewel. The creative approach of the Lalique Joaillierie house is different: they start with a design and then add the stone.

White gold, Diamonds, Sapphires, Yellow Sapphires, Tsavorites, Lapis-Lazuli and Turquoise.
So any new creations?
Yes, it is a clever blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco influences, Fauna and Flora. It is a meeting with mythical Goddesses and Gods; the jewels tell a story. For example, the «Gaia» line celebrates the sun, pays tribute to nature and to women, who are the main sources of inspiration for René Lalique.

What is your favorite stone?
Personally, the Diamond, the Diamond of all colors. It symbolizes both toughness and fragility; it is a symbol of moments. At every important stage in life, we offer and receive Diamonds.

But also those of Art Nouveau. That is to say, both the precious stones and the «non-precious» ones!

Or, Diamonds, Colored Sapphires, Rose Quartz,

What is your favorite jewelry?
There are several of them; I really like the cabochon ring by René Lalique; Lalique Joaillerie has renamed it «Gourmande»! It is still very popular today.
I also like all the jewelry for the theater, the ones for Sarah Bernhardt. René Lalique designed the jewelry for the women of the theater, so they were pieces that had to be visible from afar, so big! Theatrical.

Lalique is the «Nature Femme», it is the metamorphosis, for example the «Butterfly Femme», «Dragonfly Femme». It is the protector of nature.

Lalique Joaillerie is a blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco; the «Vesta» line is a good example; the wings are close to Art Nouveau and have an Art Deco feel with their geometric appearance.

What do you wish for the future?
To continue to keep the customers amazed!
And to stay on the territory of history through the jewel!
Thanks to Anne Kazuro for the courage and passion of this challenge, for this mythical and revisited jewelry with creativity.
