Esprit Joaillerie met the warm jewelry designer Marie Poniatowski. Marie shared her creations, feminine jewelry of character.
How did you become a jewelry designer?
15 years ago, I suddenly had the urge to change my profession (I was an assistant director in a film studio). I had always had a passion for antique jewelry and the idea of creating a fine jewelry brand that was accessible to women and that they could afford on their own.

What does the jewel represent?
It is a transmission from generation to generation.
This idea is very important to me: creating jewelry that is like a second skin, with which you can live all day long, from the metro in the morning to a dinner in the evening.

The jewel that never leaves you?
My alliance of course, my Ama earring (which I made for my grandmother), my Tess ring (for my daughter) and my Blood Diamonds crosses.
What is your favorite stone?
Diamonds, I have always loved this stone, for its purity and brilliance; it goes with everything!!!
A place that inspires you?
Paris! I am so lucky to live in the most beautiful city in the world with its history, its monuments... the old jewels of course and the travels. I often think about my new collections at night before falling asleep, I have flashes that I try to remember in the morning when I wake up!
A book you haven’t forgotten?
Albert Camus's The Stranger, a pure marvel!
There are so many! (David Bowie, U2, Crowded House, Eels…) but right now I’m listening to two completely different songs:
The first day of the rest of your life by Etienne Daho and Last Dance by Rhye

What can I wish you?
To continue doing the job I love while always keeping my identity intact and to try to give my best to the people I love.
