On the occasion of the salon BIJORHCA PARIS, Esprit Joaillerie met Alain Porchet, president of the House Porchet and a great expert on pearls.
For us, he took the time to introduce us to his company. It was interesting to exhibit at BIJORHCA and to present exceptional pieces there.

The Porchet house was founded in Nice in 1928 by my grandfather Maurice Porchet. At that time, it was known for its diamonds and jewelry. The house then turned to pearls, first the Japanese ones. But it was the success of the Tahitian pearl that would make us famous.
Today the Porchet house is present in all places where perliculture is practiced in Australia, Burma, Tahiti, Japan, China...

For how many years have you been exhibiting? BIJORHCA ? We are exhibiting at the fair BIJORHCA since 1981.
In the early years, we were on a waiting list, as the fair was overcrowded with exhibitors. With a few other manufacturers, we had to exhibit in a building of the Arts de la Table, on the rue Paradis, where a shuttle system connected us to the Porte de Versailles.
We subsequently participated in all the sessions, at Porte de Versailles, in Villepinte and in Vincennes.
What are you looking for in this salon; what has it brought to you?
It must be said that the fair has allowed us to increase our visibility in the French market and to support our sales team by presenting our customers with the entire range of our products. House Porchet. We have regularly attracted new European customers there.
No further promotion is guaranteed by the various producers, as was the case with the Jetro Japonais and the GIE Perles de Tahiti.
Who are the customers of Tahiti pearls, South Sea... that you meet at the salon?
At the fair, we encounter both traditional retailers who buy jewelry and traditional products (such as rows of pearls, Tahiti pearl earrings, etc.), and designers who are looking for pearls for their own creations.
