Meeting with Bertrand Pizzin
What a pleasure it is to read books by Bijoux. It is at Galignani that one finds these treasures in one of the oldest bookstores in Paris. And it is Bertrand Pizzin, a bookshop owner and expert in jewelry, who speaks about them best.
What is your favorite book about jewelry?
There isn’t just one, but several!!
If I’m honest…Jar’s book. I know him personally; he’s an extraordinary man. And his book of pleasure for the eyes, of course. But I also like the books from the Art Deco period.
Tell me about a rare and sought-after book?
Le Boivin.
He is exhausted, and the prices of used watches are very high. I also like Boivin as a jeweler.
Which book do you take with you on vacation?
“An anthology of poetry” by JF Revel.
A jeweler you like?
Belperron, because in a time when everything was similar, she knew how to innovate the codes!
How did you become passionate about jewelry? Expert on jewelry books?
My passion for jewelry… I inherited a pair of cuff links… and that was the beginning…
I became a button collector. I became interested in gemology, jewelry, styles… I even designed buttons for a designer. I also wrote a book “Button Buttons”, pre-published by Karl Lagerfeld!
All of this led me to jewelry.
And the “happy hand”, I fish all the time, often in Vanves.
A music you listen to while reading?
“The Gymnopédies” by Erik Satie.
Which book would you recommend for a holiday?
“Diamant” A journey into the heart of a obsession by Matthew Hart, published by Acte Sud. It’s like a novel, philosophy, exciting from beginning to end!
I highly recommend it.
Which book are you looking forward to?
With impatience, Robert Goossens is scheduled to be back this autumn! He is the creator of the jewellery for Chanel, and is a true reference.
Thanks to Bertrand Pizzin for letting me share his reading list with you!
