Jerome Terangi Rambaud is the president of Worms.
Esprit Joaillerie is pleased to meet Jérôme Terangi Rambaud, President of Worms, a true expert in pearls and a man of conviction.

It should be noted that the Worms Paris house is an old jewelry house specializing in fine pearls. Moreover, it is a house recognized since the beginning of the 20th century for its savoir-faire and the innovation of its jewelry. Thanks to its exigency, the Worms company became, in the 1920s, the first importer of cultured pearls in France. It was also at Worms that the famous Samuel Fred began his career.

In 1950, François Rambaud, a jeweler specializing in the work of precious stones and metals, was chosen by Suzanne Worms to take over the direction of the Worms house. Later, in 2015, Jérôme Terangi Rambaud gave new energy and sparkle to this beautiful house.

What does the pearl represent to you?
First of all, emotion. When I touch a pearl, when I look at it, a bond is created. There is also sensitivity and diversity because the pearls are polychrome. Not quite the same thing, not quite another thing; each person feels the pearls differently. The pearls do not tire me out. When your eye is exercised, you enter the matter, made of infinite subtlety, and if you know how to appreciate it, you discover another universe.

What is your favorite pearl?
Here it is. I fell in love with this beautiful 17.8 mm gem. It comes from the Indian Ocean north of Australia.

A place you like?
In Tahiti, at the foot of a waterfall in the middle of nature.

A book you haven’t forgotten?
I absolutely love the second Tome of Robinson Crusoe.

A work of art?
A very ancient Buddha that I saw in the Grand Palace when I was 19 years old. I said to my father: “I want to buy it”, my father replied: «You are crazy!».
It is a work that I have not forgotten.
There is also this masterpiece by Harlamoff, who spent a long time working at Worms on Rue Royale. This painter is known for painting young women. The painting was very popular and I kept it for a long time. When I wanted to buy Worms back, I had to sell it. It was heartbreaking to see it go. At the same time, in retrospect, it was an important work that allowed Worms to develop.

Do you have any anecdotes about the pearl?
A photo taken in September 2001 with American customers, a memory of an exceptional harvest, and with the first estimates, we were the kings of the world.
Then there is September 11th and this harvest lost almost 80% of its value in 3 days.
This photo reminds me of the impermanence of things, the fragility of the world in which we live.
But let's not be sad; this has also created strong solidarity between merchants and between brands, because there are also historical connections.

What can I wish you?
Let the adventure continue!
For the last 4 years, I have been involved in this wonderful project called Worms Paris. It’s about recruiting talented people and moving forward. So, what I want most in the world is for this know-how to continue.

Thank you Jérôme for this beautiful and rich testimony of a passionate man who fights for the perpetuation of a prestigious house, the Worms house.
