Born in 1964 in Siberia, Victor Tuzlukov He was not destined to become a lapidary. Engineer-sudovoditel and then economist, he discovered the size of stones in the late 1990s. A few years later, he trained in gemology at the GIA of Moscow and has made it a true artistic discipline. Since 2006, international competitions have allowed him to compare his technique with that of the best lapidaries and to refine an approach based on extreme precision.
At Tuzlukov, the facet is not only used to reveal the brilliance of a gem: it becomes a line of drawing. An idea first takes the form of an image, then of a diagram that determines the organization of the facets. Its collections Lapis Philosophorum, Sacred Symbols or World Heritage They thus combine geometry, symbols, and cultures from around the world. Some stones have several hundred, even several thousand facets. In 2020, one of his works was featured in Guinness World Records, While his name appears on gemological reports such as that of the master who made the cut.
Through this approach, Victor Tuzlukov defends a conception of the carved stone as a work in its own right: the material remains natural, but the design of the facets gives it a new dimension, blending gemology, geometry and artistic expression.
