The historical journey of the Maison Marchak invites us to travel through time and space, from Russia to France.

In 1878, Joseph Marchak began his career as a jeweller in Kiev. In less than twenty years, he became one of the most renowned jewellers in the Russian Empire and the tsar’s supplier.
In 1913, the three hundredth anniversary of the Romanov dynasty was celebrated. During the visit of Tsar Nicholas II to Kiev, all official gifts bore the signature of Marchak.
He then becomes the rival of the illustrious Fabergé.

After Joseph’s death in 1920, his son Alexandre settled in Paris and opened a shop on Rue de la Paix. A new era began for the Marchak house; Alexandre excelled at creating unique pieces inspired by the Art Deco style of his time, while maintaining his Russian soul.
He will make the Marchak house one of the first to launch the so-called «cocktail» rings.

His fame grew and he received a prize at the 1925 exhibition of Art Deco.

The ballets at the Palais Garnier near the rue de la Paix are a delightful addiction, and the «bird pins», «flower pins» are inspired by Stravinsky's compositions.

The Second World War marks a pause. In the 1950s, Alexandre reconstituted a team with Alexandre Diriger in creation and Jacques Verger in customer relations. In 1957, Jacques Verger, now a partner, took over the business and expanded it in the United States.

The creations are luxurious, colorful, paved with diamonds, emeralds, rubies, citrines... Each piece is unique, New York-style and Parisian women are drawn to it. Aesthetics take precedence over the intrinsic value of the stone.

This «little sparrow» brooch, a typical Parisian bird, has managed to appeal to American female tourists in Paris. It was created in the 1960s to commemorate the capital.

She became the symbol of the Marchak House.

Since 2005, it has been Daniel Marchac who has inherited the name, accompanied by Bertrand Degommier Designer and Dominique de Blanchard Director of the workshops, who is giving the Maison a new impetus with the know-how of this jeweler.

Today, this beautiful Maison continues to create colorful pieces. Unique pieces or five-copy reproductions, each in different colors and materials, form the creative universe of Marchak: »Soul of Russia, spirit of Paris».
